Mutual consent

A mutual consent route requires both spouses to agree on the divorce itself and on terms relating to maintenance, custody, and any settlement. It is generally faster and less adversarial.

Contested route

A contested matter proceeds where one spouse seeks dissolution and the other contests it, or where the terms cannot be agreed. The timeline is longer and the documentation deeper.

A note on outcomes

This article is general guidance, not legal advice. Outcomes in any specific matter depend on facts, documents, lender policy, and applicable law.
